History of “Sneddon” solution in contact mechanics

چکیده
At the beginning of 1941, Ludwig Föppl published an 8-page paper “Elastische Beanspruchung des Erdbodens unter Fundamenten”. The main result this was further developed by his doctoral student Gerhard Schubert in 1942. These publications and contain many results obtained researchers contact mechanics subsequent decades 20th century. Unfortunately, both papers have been forgotten, which is not particularly surprising considering years when they appeared (1941-42). solution reached a great degree international recognition through Sneddon (1965) – one most cited history mechanics. Yet merely offers different derivation approach to obtain already known solutions. finally transformed into simple mnemonic rule Method Dimensionality Reduction (MDR).

History-dependent hemivariational inequalities with applications to Contact Mechanics
In this paper we survey some of our recent results on the existence and uniqueness of solutions to nonconvex and nonsmooth problems which arise in Contact Mechanics. The approach is based on operator subdifferential inclusions and hemivariational inequalities, and focuses on three aspects. First, we report on results on the second order history-dependent subdifferential inclusions and hemivaria...

Application of Nano-Contact Mechanics Models in Manipulation of Biological Nano-Particle: FE Simulation
Contact mechanics is related to the deformation study of solids that meet each other at one or more points. The physical and mathematical formulation of the problem is established upon the mechanics of materials and continuum mechanics and focuses on computations involving bodies with different characteristics in static or dynamic contact. Contact mechanics gives essential information for the s...
متن کاملFinite Element Simulation of Contact Mechanics of Cancer Cells in Manipulation Based on Atomic Force Microscopy
The theory of contact mechanics deals with stresses and deformations which arise when the surfaces of two solid bodies are brought into contact. In elastic deformation contact occurs over a finite area. A regular method for determining the dimensions of this area is Hertz Contact Model. Appearance of atomic force microscope results in introduction of Contact ...
متن کاملContact mechanics
Contact problems are central to Solid Mechanics, because contact is the principal method of applying loads to a deformable body and the resulting stress concentration is often the most critical point in the body. Contact is characterized by unilateral inequalities, describing the physical impossibility of tensile contact tractions (except under special circumstances) and of material interpenetr...
